ABOUT THE FILM
Only 12 men in history have walked on the moon and yet there is no personal account of how these historical missions affected each man personally in a film. The Wonder of it All recounts the narrative of their journeys from childhood to the present. The story unfolds as each astronaut talks candidly about his adventure, with some never heard statements until now. Shot in HD, we conducted in depth interviews with 7 moonwalkers. Many of the photos in our film were donated from the astronauts personal collections and have never been seen before. JEFFREY ROTH
Jeff attended California State University Northridge where he earned his Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in film production. He started working on TV movies as an intern in the camera department and worked his way up to be a camera assistant on TV sitcoms. "I wanted to learn how the set worked, so I thought that being in the camera department would at least allow me to stay on the set. My dream has always been to tell a story that I believed in. From the time that I was 10 years old, I would go to Universal Studios and sit on the tram and dream about being a director. When the idea for this project came up, I was thrilled to have the chance to tell the story of the remarkable men who became moonwalkers. This is a humanstic story that I feel needs to be told. It has been a labor of love. | PAUL BASTA, S.O.C.
Paul has been living and working in Los Angeles since 1972, where he attended UCLA graduate school in Motion Pictures and Television. His love of the Space Program has been a passion from an early age and remains a major influence to this day. He is the Cinematographer on the documentary as well as a Producer, and has vigorously researched the historical and mission specific facts of the Apollo era. While producing has been challenging and exciting, Paul still finds the camera the most gratifying to him on a personal level: “Thinking visually and then realizing it through the lens will always be close to my heart. I just wish I could do it in space or on the moon!” | GREGORY SCHWARTZ
If you were to walk onto any set in Hollywood over the past decade, you might just run into Greg shooting publicity and show photos with his quiver of leading edge still cameras. A graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography, Gregory Schwartz has over 20 years of experience as a still photographer in Los Angeles. Operating from his own studio as well as on location, Greg works in both film and digital formats. He specializes in publicity shoots for the Entertainment Industry, in addition to architectural, corporate and catalog photography, serving the needs of a wide range of clientele. When ever he can find the time, Greg stargazes through an 11 inch reflecting telescope in his back yard. He combines his photographic talents with celestial viewing to satisfy a long held interest in space that began in high school. The achievements of Apollo still captivate him to this day. Greg, aside from being a producer on this project where he has aided in negotiations with each astronaut, has brought his professional expertise to bear visually as the Lighting Designer for the project. “It’s my first taste of HD Video production, and I find the challenges similar to film but quite different at the same time. I enjoy the fact that I can see my choices in real time.” | SCOTT STARRETT Scott has written original music for award-winning films which have screened at festivals throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
